What sounds make up your Providence? These are your soundmarks, the aural equivalent to landmarks. They are more than just background noise; they define local places as much as streets and buildings. While soundmarks are often collective, they are also highly personal, distinctive for each individual.
For this project we captured soundmarks identified by students from New Urban Arts. These sounds serve as the first acquisitions to a collection that seeks to listen carefully to our city. You can hear them on the player below.
