Archives typically organize their collections alphabetically by proper name, or chronologically by year. While these tried and true sorting systems can be very useful, we wonder if city residents might find the material significantly more compelling if it were organized into categories like Missed Opportunities, Saturday Nights, Moving Days, and Strangers. Might residents more easily connect the archival material to their own life in the city if it is labeled like the boxes pictured here? Should we tag our online collections databases accordingly?
